A pioneer in microsurgical procedures, Dr. Yves Crassas formerly focused his practice on cardiac and vascular surgery. He began work with medical hair restoration in 1985, as part of his cosmetic surgery practice. Since then Dr. Crassas has been on the forefront of the hair restoration field, investigating, evaluating, and perfecting new techniques to provide his patients with the most effective therapies for encouraging the natural regrowth of healthy hair.
A firm believer in the benefits – to both medical professionals and patients -- of openly sharing knowledge, Dr. Crassas teaches, writes for professional journals, and has presented his innovative research on cosmetic surgery, hair restoration and laser therapy at medical conferences around the globe. He is an active member in many professional societies, and is a founding member of the French College of Scalp Surgery, a member of International Advisory Board of the International Society of Hair Surgery, and Vice President of the French College of Hair Restoration Surgery. Dr. Crassas is also a member of the advisory board of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and a member of the French Surgical Association of Surgery.
Dr. Crassas has served as a plastic surgery consultant in United Arab Emirates. He has taught cosmetic surgical techniques at the University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris and participated in the Annual Live Surgery Workshop presented by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. He has acted as a coordinator for the Diploma Inter-Academic European (DIUE), a multidisciplinary course of study offered through several European universities to doctors who use or wish to use lasers in their medical practice.
His papers have been published in the "Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy," the "Journal Français d'ORL," and "Chirurgie Plastique et Esthétique" among other journals. He has written and lectured on hair restoration techniques ranging from scalp reduction and extension to microtransplants. His specialties include scar reduction and repair, hair restoration for women, and single hair transplants. Dr. Crassas has developed and patented devices used in hair restoration surgery.
Dr. Crassas is based in Lyons, France, where he has served as an expert medical witness to Lyon's court of appeal since 1977.
